Lumos is an international children’s foundation founded in 2005 by author J.K. Rowling to end the harmful institutionalisation of children. Lumos works to make sure that every child grows up in a safe and loving family. Since 2020, we have supported Lumos on 8 key recruitment projects, 3 at the executive-level, earning Upsall International a reputation as a trusted strategic partner.
After 4 years of dedicated leadership, Lumos’ Chief Executive Officer announced plans to retire. The organisation turned once again to Upsall International to find a successor who could build on a strong global legacy of programmes and partnerships and lead the organisation into its third decade at a time of global uncertainty, challenge, and opportunity.
We launched a global Full Search focused on finding a values-driven leader with deep credibility in transformational leadership, systems change, international development, and child rights. Drawing on our extensive networks and recruitment tools, we identified candidates with a strong track record of organisational leadership, cross-cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to child wellbeing. Just as important, we sought someone who could nurture a thriving internal culture and put in place the people, systems, and governance needed to drive sustainable growth and impact.
Upsall International was proud to support the appointment of Howard Taylor, a dynamic new Chief Executive Officer with the vision, integrity, and leadership experience to guide Lumos into its next chapter. Howard joined Lumos from the United Nations Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children and brought over 20 years of experience as a transformational leader in non-profit, corporate, government, and UN settings in the UK, USA, Africa, and Asia.
With Howard at the helm, Lumos is going from strength-to-strength, preparing exciting and ambitious plans to support more children in more countries more quickly. Our longstanding partnership with Lumos continues to bolster bold leadership and lasting change for children worldwide.
