Background
The Global Methane Hub (GMH) is the first coordinated philanthropic approach to methane mitigation funding. We support ambitious catalytic investments, lay the groundwork for long-term transformation of challenging sectors, and deliver quick wins in sectors that are ripe for action on the ground. GMH focuses on the energy, agricultural, and waste sectors which account for 96% of human-caused methane emissions.

Our actions are global in nature but we believe quick wins will only be had if we engage sub-nationals and local communities. Our grant making focuses on the highest emitting sectors and regions with a team spread out in six continents and is headquartered in Santiago, Chile.

Purpose of role
The Development Operations Manager will report to, and partner with, the Head of Development to support GMH’s fundraising efforts. The role will help to develop funder journeys that build solid and lasting donor-philanthropic relationships, develop and manage robust internal systems, including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. The Development Operations Manager will lead portfolio management operations, including researching prospects and donors, creating briefs as well as tracking proposals, events, and donor communications.

Primary responsibilities
The job holder will have the following key responsibilities:

Data & systems management
  • Oversee the selection, implementation, and day-to-day management of the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, including proper integration with other internal databases (e.g., Fluxx).
  • Collaborate with colleagues, including the Finance & Administrative, Program & Regional, and Executive Office teams to ensure donor records are complete and accurate in the database and that the CRM is optimally used to engage donors, partners, and grantees.
  • Create and maintain system policies and procedures that promote quality donor data and data integrity; establish, document, and implement proper parameters for data management, including data-entry policies and procedures.
  • Proactively make system recommendations that promote the efficient flow of donor information to appropriate users.
  • Actively seek and update contact information through outreach and research.
  • Train colleagues in using the CRM and periodically audit processes to ensure compliance.
  • Consult with colleagues to track and report donor engagement activities, progress, and trends.
  • Prepare fundraising activity reports.
Prospect development
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a donor pipeline; establish and continuously improve processes for prospect development, including Moves management.
  • Support program and executive teams to review prospect portfolios and Moves management progress, providing timely and relevant background documents and briefing materials. 
  • Undertake research to identify new prospects and opportunities for engagement, including monitoring reports, news alerts, and other data sources to update donor records.
Donor communications & events
  • Assist in developing a range of donor communications to ensure high-quality, consistent engagement with prospects and donors, including funding proposals and donor reports.
  • Work with Development Team partners to align key messages for prospects and donors.
  • Prepare and track donor acknowledgements.
  • Support execution of donor events including logistical preparations, partnering with vendors, preparing and tracking invites, and producing briefing documents on prospects and donors in preparation for events.
  • Evaluate donor communications activities and events.
Project management and administrative functions
  • Project manage key development functions, from design through execution and follow-up, keeping detailed records and tracking next steps.
  • Support the development team with administrative tasks including coordinating and scheduling meetings, updating files, and organizing donor visits. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
Profile

Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree with three to five years of experience in non-profit development.
  • At least three years of CRM management in fundraising operations, including helping to establish processes and procedures.
  • Advanced CRM and data management knowledge, including data entry, evolving technologies, and best practices.
  • Experience with institutional donors, including foundations, corporations, and donor-advised funds.
  • Experience producing protocols on CRM usage and training colleagues to use a CRM.
  • Proficient in manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data.
  • Ability to manage and implement complex processes in ways that duly engage colleagues.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Multilingual skills and multicultural or cross-cultural experience are appreciated.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented with the ability to work in partnership with others.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Hiring statement
The Global Methane Hub is a project of Windward Fund, a 501(c)(3) public charity that incubates new and innovative public-interest projects and grant-making programs. U.S. employees are employed by our fiscal sponsor, the Windward Fund. Windward offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (and their families). Employees are able to enrol in 401k retirement plan and are eligible for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions. Employees are also eligible for pre-tax transportation benefits. Employees will receive 160 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 2 days of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually. Employees will also receive 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are eligible for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave after 90 days of employment.

Additional information
  • This will be a full-time (40 hours/week) remote role and will require time flexibility to collaborate with staff and stakeholders in multiple time zones. The position supervisor is in the GMT-6 time zone.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically or internationally at 20%.
