Background
The Climate Emergency Collaboration Group (CECG) is a regranting collaboration made up of some of the world's largest climate philanthropic funders. We use our convening and philanthropic power to facilitate stronger collaboration, coordination, and campaigning from the global climate movement in pursuit of increased climate action around the UN climate talks and other international summits. CECG is fiscally sponsored by Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, a 501(c)(3), as a Sponsored Project within its charitable-giving fund.
Purpose of role
We are seeking a HR Manager for this fast-paced and dynamic role that will establish and align CECG’s people management practices to global standards, its fiscal host, and its PEO internationally. This role is key in a growing organisation that is focused on leveraging philanthropic impact around the calendar of key international climate meetings.
The role will work closely with other members of the CECG Team, support line managers, and report to the Operations Director. CECG is looking for a strong HR manager, with experience in areas of HR operations, international employee relations, policy and procedure development, performance and compensation management, employee engagement, training and development, talent acquisition, onboarding, benefit administration, and coaching line management. The HR Manager will be responsible for providing effective HR support to CECG’s global team. They will be responsible for providing strategic advice, guidance, and leadership in all areas of HR such as staffing, recruiting, organisational development, performance management, training, compensation and benefits, employee relations and engagement.
The ideal candidate will be an organised ‘self-starter’ who enjoys problem solving and working in a close team. They will thrive in complexity and have high self-awareness, with excellent stakeholder engagement skills. They will be able to juggle different tasks at pace whilst maintaining a keen eye for detail. They will be comfortable in a virtual workspace and be flexible about working hours.
Primary responsibilities
HR strategy, planning and policies
- Develop and implement HR and workforce strategies aligned with CECG’s overall strategy.
- Define, develop, and implement strategic HR initiatives that drive organisational performance and engagement, lead resource planning, develop organizational culture, and design appropriate organizational structures for CECG’s growth.
- Maintain and update HR policies, procedures and guidelines aligned to HR best practices, regulatory and legislative frameworks, fiscal host, and PEO, ensuring that they are fit for purpose in all locations for global staff.
- Understand, assess, and respond to complex situations and provide strategic and innovative solutions.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, retention best practices, professional development, and career planning functions.
- Manage streamlined recruitment and selection procedures along with competency assessments.
- Coordinate career development, succession planning and talent management needs in collaboration with line managers.
- Develop and implement an effective employee performance management system.
- Support line managers on performance issues, helping to address poor performance (through performance improvement plans).
- Update professional development policies and review professional development plans for all employees.
- Identify skill gaps and competency and training needs at CECG.
- Source and retain suitable credible service providers for professional training and organisational capacity building.
- Develop key HR metrics for tracking and reporting.
- Manage and monitor the effective administration of employment compensation and benefits.
- Maintain up to date knowledge on global trends on statutory benefits.
- Monitor payroll reports as part of budget management for employee compensation.
- Evaluate salary bands and benefit programs with industry benchmarks at regular intervals.
- Manage all HR information including management of relevant systems (Workday) for recording employee information.
- Ensure that all necessary employment documents are in compliance with legal requirements.
- Effectively manage and track conditions of service and service benefits such as leave, allowances, pensions, health insurance, group life cover, etc.
- Analyse data and trends, to identify policies and procedures that could improve process efficiency and people effectiveness.
- Oversee and coordinate HR workflows related to employee databases and HR administration, in partnership with Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors and PEO.
- Measure employee satisfaction and identify strategies to address areas that require improvement.
- Oversee the implementation of a structured Employee Wellness programme.
- Establish open and transparent communication channels to convey information, address concerns, and keep staff updated on relevant HR matters.
- Maintain an open-door policy where employees (especially line managers) are able to seek guidance on HR related queries.
- Support the rollout of a DEI strategy and initiatives, and recommend ways to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion at an organisation level.
- Ensure the development and effective monitoring of discipline management strategies and discipline management policies and procedures for the global team.
- Lead on the management of employee relations cases, in compliance with labour relations legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Bridge management and employee relations by supporting employee absences, grievances, disciplinary action, misconduct, performance improvement plans, and terminations.

Experience/Qualifications
Essential
- An undergraduate degree in HR and/or master’s degree (International/Global HR, Organisational Development, Leadership, Strategic HR).
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience proven working experience as a HR Manager or HR Executive.
- In-depth and sound knowledge of International Employment Laws/labour law and HR best practices.
- Experience with DEI strategies and integration of DEI policies and practices.
- People oriented and results driven.
- Experience in working in diverse teams and with people from various cultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrable experience with HR metrics.
- Knowledge of HR systems and databases.
- Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels.
- Working experience with a fiscal sponsor/PEO.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Highly resourceful and a keen problem-solver who is eager to take on new challenges.
- Strong time-management skills and the ability to organise and coordinate multiple work streams.
- Experience in working virtually across different time zones.
- Written and verbal fluency in English is essential; other languages are an asset.
- This will be a full-time (40 hours/week) remote role operating preferably with GMT hours but will require considerable time collaborating with staff and stakeholders in multiple time zones.
