International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) welcomes new Director, Strategic Partnerships

IISD, a research institute with three decades of experience working to solve the world’s most pressing sustainable development challenges, will be welcoming Nicolas Delaunay to its senior leadership team in January 2026. He will be joining a diverse group of over 300 thought leaders, policy experts, scientists, lawyers and dedicated professionals working from locations around the globe.

Taking on the vital role of Director, Strategic Partnerships, Nicolas will bring his deep experience in the fundraising and non-profit sectors to IISD as the institute looks to strengthen its relationships with partners and develop new opportunities for impact-focused collaboration.

“Partnerships are critical to making an impact and a vital component in IISD’s success,” said IISD President and CEO Patricia Fuller. “Nicolas will play a key role on our team and we look forward to welcoming him aboard.”

Nicolas has held senior roles with leading global organizations such as Rainforest Foundation Norway, Global Water Partnership, and Emirates Nature – WWF.

Upsall International’s Senior Recruitment Consultant, Ruth Gardner, managed the recruitment process for Nicolas, tapping into climate networks across many continents to find a candidate with deep passion and aligned experience.

Along with IISD, Upsall International is pleased to see Nicolas take on this new role, and very much look forward to seeing the organization thrive with his contributions.
